Community Tutoring

Thursdays at 6:00pm

It is with excitement that we would like to inform you of a new opportunity that has begun to blossom within our community; one with which we hope will benefit not only students but the community to which we all are dearly connected. Oak Park Church of Christ is a church within the community of Cedarbrae. We are fortunate as a church to have some teachers within our congregation who are eager to launch a free weekly tutoring opportunity for families. This program is intended to serve the needs of students that are having learning difficulties and who might not otherwise be able to afford private tutoring themselves.

The tutoring service will be organized and run by 2 Calgary Board of Education employed teachers, Kenzie and Laura Rushton, who are educators having experience in Grades 1-12 teaching and learning. They will oversee the recruitment of other volunteer tutors (either educators themselves or people of talent and skill able to encourage learning within others). They will aid the tutoring services and will ensure proper support is provided each week for those students in attendance.

Students are expected to come prepared to learn (i.e., students should know what they need to work on/have homework to complete or a general idea of where they could use support). Children under the age of 5 are not eligible for the tutoring services.

We are committed to provide a welcoming and warm, diverse and inclusive place to learn!

We will meet on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30pm at Oak Park Church of Christ (in the lobby). Please register to attend. Tutoring begins again on Thursday, September 28.

We are collecting donations of the following supplies
